I am delighted to welcome you to Animated Exeter 2003, Exeter’s
13 days of animation films, workshops, exhibitions and events in
venues across the city from 17 February to 1 March.
Click here to read some Highlights of the
Animated Exeter 2002 festival.
One of this year’s highlights will be the only
appearance in the UK of the major exhibition The Folimage Adventure
from the Folimage Studio De Film D’Animation in France.
The studio has received more than 50 prestigious industry awards
and we will be showing a retrospective of the best of their recent
films to accompany the exhibition.
Jayne Pilling, Director of the British Animation Awards
and film programmer for the festival, who last year brought you
the popular Japanese films from Studio Ghibli, has scoured the globe
to find films equally as entertaining from Europe, South America
and South East Asia that will appeal to children, young adults and
older audiences. We will also focus on the best from the South West,
showing student films and premiering animation films made here in
Exeter.
Animated Exeter is building on its unique mix of access
and education by developing an ever more comprehensive and ambitious
range of exhibitions, workshops, illustrated talks and master-classes.
In this way the festival offers opportunities for children, students,
families and film enthusiasts to gain hands-on first time experience,
develop existing skills and interests and meet the creators and
experts in the field. At the Careers Day, animation and media companies,
universities and colleges will be present offering advice and information
on training and jobs and on how to break into the industry.
None of this would have been possible without the
continuous creative collaboration of the City Council with our partners,
funders, sponsors and committed volunteers.
Enjoy the festival.
