This was won last year by Fiona Wood of Colyton Grammar School, and produced by Sun Dog Media. We are asking pupils to design an animated trailer that will be screened before and during the festival at the Exeter Picture House.

This year we are looking for one finalist, although a group or an individual can create the work. The brief is to draw a storyboard for a 30 second Trailer that will advertise Animated Exeter. A panel from Animated Exeter’s steering committee will select the winning entry.

What to do:
Animated Exeter’s new symbol is a black cat. We would like you to think of a 30 second sequence involving a black cat that could advertise this festival, make some drawings of how you see the sequence working, then we will choose a winner and take it to a professional animator to make the trailer. The winner will be invited to the launch of Animated Exeter at the beginning of February 2003 to see the finished product and receive a prize.

They can do as many drawings as they think will make up their 30 second sequence

Important note: We already have a ‘logo’ for Animated Exeter so please don’t include the words “animated exeter” in your drawings please don’t use cartoon characters from your favourite films – we can’t use those images, as we could get into trouble with the big animation companies!

Read the briefs for the two competitions and decide which you would like to enter: remember, you can enter as an individual, a pair, or as a group: your teacher will advise you on this.

The deadline for entries is November 29th 2002
